So, you want to create your own webpage.
The first step and possibly the most important one is deciding what
the page is going to be about. Coding the actual webpage is the
easy part which can be taught in a matter of minutes, whereas coming
up with a formative subject with enough information to back it can be quite
a daunting task.
#1
The first step is to find a subject that you find interesting and piques your
interest. If you're not "into" the subject you choose it will reflect directly
on you page's design. Also, try to choose a subject which you feel would be
desirable and interesting to others. You are, afterall, designing a website for
others to view and appreciate, not just yourself.

Your next step in designing your website should naturally be the learning of the
HTML programming language. Now, I know what you're probably thinking, "Oh no,
here comes the difficult part." Not so. You'll find that programming in HTML
is quite simple and enjoyable. Although I will not go into depth as far as
teaching the actual language, I will however guide you to a VERY resourceful
site for beginner HTML programmers. Simply click

After you have gotten used to the basics of the HTML programming language there are
a few hints you should be aware of which will save you alot of complaints from
your users. The first tip is, keep up with your website. Run maintenance on it
as if it were a car. I know of many sites which have fallen by the wayside
because of too many broken links, pictures that don't appear properly, and email
which has not been answered. The second thing and probably one of the most important
is, DO NOT clutter your page with extraneous junk including, too many animated
pictures, blinking or flashing text (it's murder on the eyes), and annoying
sound and/or music. These things not only annoy the senses to no end but they also
wreak havoc on load time when your page presents itself. The final thing is,
if you run across a page which is not your own and you see something you really
like but have absolutely no clue how they did it, steal it. All you have to do
is view the source code, copy, and paste. It's as easy as that. Just be aware
that some material on the net is copyrighted and should not be infringed upon.

The final step in the website design process is to advertise. Your probably asking
yourself, "How do I do that?" Advertising your site is simple. All you have to do
is visit webcrawler sites such as Yahoo and AltaVista. Simply fill out the form
they provide for you there and shortly your page will come up as a result when
someone types in a keyword for a search. Another way you can advertise is by having
your friends on the net advertise your site on their webpages as a link. Soon
you'll find many visitors coming to visit your site in no time. Good luck!
